A Winter of Preperation
« on: September 28, 2014, 11:25:19 AM »
Early but it was on my mind.

The events of the 2nd half of our Winter season will be on the Plateau.  It will take place about 4 months after we ended last time.

I will give a more detailed description of what has happened, but the short story is: no one wants to go when there is less than 6 hours of light in a day.

Everyone (Marston, Sly, Artemus, Gnevil, and Harrick) gets 400 x their current level in xp for that time.

For those that need a character: Master Po and Whitesword; 5th to 10th level if it is an existing character will work.

After the events of last session, the interim between where last season ended and where the next will begin changes a bit.

The time spent is the same, but what happens in between is different.

Shortly after you return from the exploration of the lands formerly owned by the Skull Lord, and settle down with everyone else for the winter; a strange feeling comes over the faithful of Falan....which is most of you.

Artemus is the most severely affected and he cannot control his urge to go to Icefia, to the high temple.  Marston and Gnevil both feel a desire, but it is not so strong that they feel compelled to go as well.  They are happy that Artemus is going so they are represented and he will report back.

Harrick feels a confusion.  He does not feel compelled to go and for a time is very uncertain of himself.  (more to come for Steve later)

Otherwise, the winter is the same as expected.  Lots of preparation for the spring expeditions into the Skull Lord's old lands.

The First Post, which is the temple of Falan in Grimhold; is typically home to 8 clerics, 3 rangers, a Feyalin...and those of you that are divine agents and call the town home.

Along with Artemus, four of the clerics (including Gnettle the evangelist) and one of the rangers have left the town for Icefia.

I ask Artemus if he needs help and if he would like me to join him.

Artemus doesn't make a whole lot of sense when you talk to him.  You realize this is true of several of the clerics.  Reports are that this is happening all over the Plateau, and since they are drawn to Icefia, maybe the world.

When we pick up, about 5,000 people have arrived to accept the offer.  Many more are expected.  Grimhold is booming, as new structures need to be built since it is going to be the base of operations of Gneon and the expeditions.

Marston, until the expeditions begin, has as much work begin a sheriff as he is willing to take.

Harrick, while confused at points, has an increased work load due to the lack of clerics of Falan.

Sly's store is busier, as the population has increased significantly, and many of them are adventuring types.

Gnevil is similarly busy because of the increase in population and because his partner is not home.

This makes Herrick particularly grumpy.  However he's relishing the fact that people need him more.. elevating his status.  He starts bartering for priority in the tasks he performs... Often dealing for hot meals served to him to get to someone first. Or new clothes, or other mundane things.  He doesn't leave his lazy-z-boy if he can help it.

The clerics, while disliking the situation, have no choice but to accommodate you.

What's the composition of the immigrants? Laborers, tinkers, soldiers, etc? Anyone other hunters?

A pretty good mix of mostly Plateauians.  Almost no soldiers.  Some law officers.  Adventurers and hunters make up a good portion.  Unskilled workers are also numerous.  Far more male and female.  Only a handful of children.
