Taking the Offensive Approach
« on: July 18, 2014, 12:51:31 AM »
Discussion with the gnolls leaders and Ellic here.  That's four sessions to cover two in game days.  The first session of preparation for the mad beast encompassed a few days prior.

When the gnolls enter the castle, the halfings are all on guard on the wall, watching.  The gnolls filter in a mass that is less than organized.  A minute after they crowd in, they begin to settle at the command of some of the gnolls among them.

At the front of the pack, there appears to be one masked human.  He stands and waits for two other gnolls to quiet the horde.  Mixed into them are a number of animals, the largest being the aforementioned Terrormaw, a mutant dire cat of some sort.

Shortly after midnight, when the gnolls have finally settled, a leader of the gnolls, you assume, presents himself to Ellic and those around him.  He says in high pitched common, almost a mockery of the language, "I am Vatpik, pack leader.  For Warlard Akrak, we are here to save the Halfling!"  A cheer goes up among the gnolls.

Vor'Ruk says "As it is written in the Tome of War from the Oldest Orc, as it is so.   War makes strange bedfellows. "

he screws up his face.. and laughs..

"Bed-Fellows... Fellows.. " smiling, and the 10 cohorts all force laughs for him, except RomPei.

The gnolls looked suspiciously at the orcs, and after a few minutes of uncomfortable orc only laughter, a cacophony of gnollish laughter begins.  Soon there hundreds of gnolls are laughing for little reason; it seems to be more of a release of nervousness.  It goes on for a weirdly long time, as the gnolls feed of each others' laughter.  Of the gnolls leading the pack, only on does not join in, and the human doesn't join in either.
